A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Use iCloud Keychain

In the world, there are 1.65 billion Apple device users in the world.

If you’re an Apple user and can’t keep track of all of your passwords, you might want to use iCloud Keychain.  But are you wondering how to use iCloud keychain?

Thankfully, we have the best guide on how to get the most out of iCloud Keychain, so make sure you keep reading!

What is iCloud Keychain?

iCloud Keychain is Apple’s system that will let you keep all of your passwords, credit card information, account information, and WiFi password save. If you can access it, you can get in it on your Mac computer, iPad, or your iPhone.

It uses 256-bit AES encryption to make sure that it’s secure. Apple also can’t read your data, so you shouldn’t have to worry about any leaks.

This software can also help you keep all of your accounts like Messages, Contacts, Mail, and Calendars up to date on all of your devices.

Set up iCloud Keychain

In order to use it, you’ll have to set up your two-factor authentication first. This will make it easier to open on all of your devices, but it’ll make it harder for anyone to break in and steal your information.

After you’ve set up two-factor authentication, you can go on your Mac and open the Systems Preferences App. From there, go to the iCloud app. You’ll be able to see a line that says Keychain. Click that box.

If you’re on your phone, you can go through the same process, but you’ll have to go to your Settings app instead. You can add this to as many devices as you want.

When you turn on a new device, you should get a notification saying that you enabled it on that device. You’ll also have to approve the additional devices from your main device. If you don’t have access to the main device, there should be instructions on how to use your iCloud Security Code instead.

Enable Access

Once you’ve set up your iCloud Keychain, you’ll have to enable access on your device. To do this, you can go to your Settings app. You should see your Apple ID at the top, and you can click that to access your iCloud.

From there, press iCloud. If you scroll down the list there, you’ll be able to see Keychain. Then, you can toggle the Keychain on.

If this is the first time you’ve done this, you’ll have to create an iCloud Security Code. You’ll need to enter your phone number to set that up. If you’ve already done this in the past, just enter the code.

Add Information

Now you can start adding information to your Keychain. You can add it at any time, and you can add either passwords or credit card information.

To add information, go to your Settings app. Then, go to Safari. You can tap an option called AutoFill.

Then, you can tap “My Info” and select information to add your credentials. If you want to add in credit card information, you can go to the saved cards that are already on your phone. From there, go to “Add Credit Card.”

The last screen will let you toggle what you want to autofill from your Keychain and you can choose to add more.

Access Your Passwords

Once you’ve set everything up, you can then access your passwords, and you can even figure out how to see saved WiFi password.

If you’re on your iPhone or tablet, you can go to the Settings App. From there, scroll down to where your accounts and passwords are.

Then tap the option that says “Website and App passwords.” You’ll be asked to authenticate that it’s you before you can access all of your data.

If you’re doing it on your Mac computer, you can just go to Safari. In the menu bar, you can go to Preferences.

You’ll be able to see an option that says Passwords near the top. Once you click that, you’ll get a list of all your websites and passwords. To add an extra layer of protection, Apple will also warn you if you’re reusing any passwords or if any of them have been detected in a data leak.

If you need to share this information to another device, you can easily and securely AirDrop it.

Delete Passwords or Information

If you decide that you don’t want to use a website or account anymore, you can easily go into your Keychain and get rid of those credentials.

If you get a new credit card, you can replace that information as well. If you delete it from your iCloud, that means it will be deleted across all of your accounts as well.

However, if you want to keep the password in the account without having it auto-fill, then you can turn off the autofill and autosave features. That way, if you share an account with someone, you can still access your credentials without having anyone be able to log into your accounts.
