BTech College Admissions 2022: How to Secure a seat in Top Engineering Colleges in India
Engineering is one of the most aspired carrier choices by Indian students. There is a hell lot of competition to secure a seat in top engineering colleges in India. Top B.Tech Colleges in India are not only IITs or NITs. First of all, students have to make a list of the best engineering colleges.
To get admission to top colleges one has to qualify the entrance exam accepted by the University/College. JEE Main and JEE Advanced are the major national-level competitive exam based on which admission is offered to candidates in different engineering colleges in different trades. However, there are other state and national level engineering colleges in India that conduct their exams to admit students to engineering courses.
Not only IITs and NITs, premier state level and private colleges like DTU, NSIT, VIT, SRM, etc offer engineering admission.
Institute of Chemical Technology
ICT Mumbai ranked 15 in engineering by NIRF. Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai accepts scores of the MHT CET or JEE Main exam to offer seats in the engineering domain. Admission to all the undergraduate courses is done through a Centralized admission process conducted by the Government of Maharashtra. MHT CET 2022 Registration is ongoing. Candidates can apply till 11 May 2022.
Preparing from previous year’s question papers and online tests is a must to crack the entrance exam. The previous year’s cutoff for ICT Mumbai was 99 percentile in the MHTCET exam.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University
JNTU holds 62 rank in the field of engineering by NIRF. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University requires candidates to crack the TS-EAMCET entrance exam to get admission in engineering. JNTU offers engineering in 24 specializations. Candidates can also get admission as a lateral entry via a separate entrance exam called ECET.
TS EAMCET is a state-level entrance test for the state of Telangana conducted by JNTU Hyderabad. A well-versed understanding of fundamentals and good practise of previous papers is required to crack the exams.
TS EAMCET 2022 Registration process has been started from 6 April to 28 May 2022. The exam for engineering courses will be held from 18 to 20 June 2022.
Aligarh Muslim University
In NIRF 2021 engineering rank list AMU hold the 35th rank. AMU offer B.Tech in ten specializations. AMU offers admission into engineering courses through AMUEEE conducted by the university itself. The overall difficulty level of AMUEEE is moderate, so a candidate with 1-2 months of preparation can crack the entrance test. AMU does not accept JEE Mains. The candidate must appear for AMUEEE to get a seat.
Anna University
Anna university holds 18th rank in the engineering field by NIRF. To get admission into Anna University, a candidate must appear for an entrance test conducted by the Tamilnadu government called TNEA. After shortlisting based on TNEA scores, candidates are called for the interview process. Anna University is one of the best engineering in South India. A lot of candidates across the country appear to TNEA. Brushing up the concepts from NCERT and preparing previous year’s papers is enough to get selected for TNEA.
Amity University
Amity University is one of the best private technical institutes in India. As per the NIRF Engineering rank list 2021, the university ranked at 31. The university offers B.Tech courses in various specializations along with integrated b.tech courses. Candidates require to pass the Amity Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the university. Candidates who secure over 80% in class 12th will be offered direct admission.

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)
VIT has been ranked 21st in the NIRF Engineering ranking 2021. Vellore Institute of Technology is one of the best private autonomous engineering colleges in India. It conducts a national-level entrance exam called VITEEE to offer admissions in engineering courses.
VITEEE 2022 Application forms are released on 2 December 2021. The last date to fill out the application form is 30 May 2022. VITEEE 2022 is scheduled to be conducted from 30 June to 6 July 2022.
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is a private autonomous university located in Patiala, Punjab that offers engineering courses to the students. It has been ranked 23 by NIRF in 2021. TIET offers admission only based on JEE Main. Last year, the cutoff score for Computer Science was 98 percentile which is too much.
JEE Main 2022 Phase 1 registration was closed on 25 April 2022. JEE Main 2022 Admit card for the same will be released soon. JEE Main Phase 2 registration will be started tentatively in May 2022.
JEE Main 2022 Phase 1 will be conducted from 20 to 29 June 2022 whereas phase 2 will be held from 21 to 30 July 2022.
BITS Pilani
Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences is one of the leading private deemed to be instituted in the country. In 2021, it has been ranked 26th by NIRF. It is a tier-2 college that offers admission based on performance in the BITSAT exam.
BITSAT 2022 Registration will end on 10 June 2022. BITSAT 2022 Session 1 will be held from 2 to 9 July 2022 & Session 2 exam is scheduled from 3 to 7 August 2022.
Other Government Institutes (IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs)
IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs are the top choice of students among B.Tech colleges in India. These institutes are government-owned public technical institute. Candidates need to qualify for JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission into B.Tech courses. Getting the desired course in these premier colleges is not an easy task in India as lacs of students appear every year to secure a seat among the top 20000 seats. The success rate for cracking the entrance tests ranges from 0.5% to 2.5% varying on the paper difficulty and number of applicants.
