The Pickleball Club, a membership-based indoor pickleball facility, has announced the groundbreaking of its new 33,293-square-foot complex in Port St. Lucie. The facility, which will feature 12 indoor championship-grade pickleball courts, a café, pro shop, locker rooms, lounge, and mezzanine with a bar and viewing area, is set to open in early 2024. In addition, two outdoor pickleball courts and two bocce ball courts with canopy shades will also be available.
Founded by Brian and Valerie McCarthy and their partner Matthew Gordon in 2021, The Pickleball Club aims to provide an upscale country club atmosphere for its members to play and socialize year-round, regardless of the weather conditions. Currently, there are five additional clubs in development, with 15 planned across Florida in the next five years.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on March 3, was attended by over 20 people, including representatives from The Pickleball Club and Stevens Construction, the construction company selected for the project. During the event, The Play for Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization sponsored by The Pickleball Club, donated a portable pickleball set to the St. Lucie County Fire District.
“The Pickleball Club concept is exciting and unique; their team has an unmatched energy; and we are honored to be selected as their construction manager,” said Mark Stevens, president of Stevens Construction. “We look forward to a long partnership with The Pickleball Club as we collaborate on additional locations.”
The Pickleball Club plans to open its first location in Lakewood Ranch in April 2023, followed by several others over the next few years, bringing its brand-new concept for the fastest-growing sport in America to pickleball players across Florida.
